Bag Lady: "Girl, you be's so rich you got diamonds on yo' socks." Chick: "They're not diamonds, they're argyle." - Overheard in New York

I was chatting with a PG (Preppy Girl, for future reference) the other day who lives in the East Village. She said that she stuck out like a sore thumb in a sea of its residents, and that it's funny how things have really reversed. It used to be such a standard to be conservative and polished. Now the hipsters far outnumber the preppies.

I was speaking with a good friend and a fellow PG who also happens to be a former boss of mine. She was trying to explain me to her colleagues (who read this) by telling them that I grew up in a high-fashion household and how I went against the family standard with my excess of hair bows and cableknit.

Which got me to thinking...

Am I the accidental rebel?

  1. remember that time we were walking down the street in matching arglye sweaters, and were told how posh and fashionable we were. GOD I love those little diamonds.
