"Why He Didn't Call You Back" & The Last Supper

Last night, I attended a fabulous book launch party at Tory Burch in the Meat Packing district. It was for the new dating book, "Why He Didn't Call you Back" by Rachel Greenwald.

(TOTAL style faux pas! I didn't wear ANY TB to a party at the TB store. Tsk, tsk JGIWC. Dress and boots by J. Crew; bag by Marc Jacobs.)

This is NOT just another dating book (think "He's Just Not That Into You", a book I refused to read - and thought the movie was a complete letdown). The author was fresh, smart, and incredibly well-versed in the subject of dating. She said some extremely insightful things, my personal favorite being, "I've been to over 700 weddings and one the thing that every bride has in common is that the man is everything they wanted but wrapped in a completely different package than they were expecting."

Single gals, RUN don't walk to your nearest bookstore. I think Cousin Patti would agree that this woman knows what she's talking about.

After the party, we headed to Pastis for The Last Supper. This is traditionally my last dinner before Passover begins. I have to carb it up in preparation for the longest 8 days of the year. I had their mushroom ravioli and the warm chocolate cake. I rarely order something that decadent for myself, but what the hey.

Chag Sameach, everyone!

  2. That comment is so true. For many of my girlfriends and myself, our serious boyfriends/fiancés/husbands are not at all what we thought we would be with but the important characteristics are there.

  4. I actually think that "He's Just Not That Into You" is revolutionary in its simplicity and brilliance. He's not calling? He's not asking you out? He's not asking you to marry him? NEXT!! So often we singletons hang on FAR FAR longer than necessary. Silence speaks volumes, if you ask me.

With that being said, I'll have to check out that new book. I've been happily single and NOT looking for five months, but I think it's time to get back into the game, so I can use all the dating info I can get. :-)

Chag Sameach to you. Did you get rid of all your chametz? :-)

  6. That comment is really true. I married my Hubby last summer after dating for 5 years and he IS everything I could have ever wanted...but he's not want I thought I would be with when I met him. Actually, I blew him off a few times, and lucky for me he was persistant! P.S. a good sense of humor does wonders (I love a man that can make me laugh)

  13. I recommend this book. It gave me some clues as to why all those guys never called me back -- back in the 70's when I was young and single. I gave my daughter a copy for her 26th birthday. I also wrote a blog post about all this. I hope you'll read it as I put a lot of work into it.

Greenwald's best tip -- that guys actually appreciate a woman who is kind and considerate.

    Good luck to you ladies!
