Who am I anyway? Am I my resume?

Lately, I've been struggling with the fact that I'm not sure what it is that I'm supposed to be doing. All my life I assumed I'd be a writer. I enjoy writing and it's always come somewhat naturally to me. Some have even told me that I'm good at it, and I truly do feel that there is unlocked potential deep within me and that one day I can be the kind of writer people respect.

If I didn't write, I'm not sure what else I'd do. Sure, I'd find a way to pass the time, but nothing would be quite as enjoyable as the movement of pen on paper, the clicking of keyboard keys.

When I moved to New York, my goal was to be this generation's Carrie Bradshaw. Lord knows I'll never be as cool, fashionable, or gorgeous, but I wanted to believe that I could be an important voice for the masses. If only in real life there was a New York Star with an open column specializing in Jewish gals and Waspy duds.

This blog is a good start, but the real question is... If I wrote a book, would anyone actually buy it? And read it?

Perhaps I'll just write one and find out.

I would! Have you looked into freelance magazine writing? I did some of it when I was in college, and it was good experience

I would so buy your book if you wrote one. It would go perfectly with my collection of preppy books for my future coffee table. Good luck figuring things out!

I would definitely buy a book written by you! I know what you mean about writing, too... I've always felt the same way about it. And I'm not really sure I would enjoy doing anything else other than journalism/writing as a career...

I would most certainly buy your book, especially if it incorporates words from the JGIWC Glossary into it, you could spur a new generation of fun lingo!

I enjoy your writing, but I know what you mean about not being really sure what you're supposed to do. I became a lawyer because I really didn't know what I wanted to do, all my friends say I'm funny and secretly I really want to be a comedian, but don't have the guts.

Good luck with your writing, I really enjoy your blog!!
