Think Pink one last time

For my last "Think Pink" post, I wanted to feature KEP Designs. KEP Designs is a jewelry company based here in New York. They make a variety of beautiful pieces: some semi-precious, some precious, ALL beautiful. KEP Designs jewelry incorporates classic silhouettes with just a dash of prep.

KEP Designs has a collection devoted exclusively to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 15% of all proceeds from the eight pieces in this collection will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

How gorgeous is this pearl and rose quartz bracelet?

Breast Cancer Awareness Month ends on Saturday, but it's something we should keep in mind all year.

Candy & Cocktails!

Tonight I hosted a Candy & Cocktails party for some girlfriends.

Each guest got a baby pumpkin filled with a candy corn and a pumpkin thermos with her initials on the back.

My decorated window! Can you spot the Snoopy gems? They were a gift from one of my favorite bloggers.

These were a hostess gift from another one of my favorite bloggers! Boy, do these girls know me or what?

We ate, drank, and watched "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown". It was a great way to welcome Halloween!

philoSophie's

When I was in upstate New York this weekend, I discovered a brand called philoSophie's that I just HAVE to share with you.

philoSophie's applies fun, lighthearted quotes to products with an everyday use, like notepads, greeting cards, and makeup cases.

Each design is hand embellished with a bit of blush and glitter. No detail goes unnoticed.

I bought this greeting card and kept it for myself. It reads, "Keep your nails painted and your hand raised." I think this describes me to a tee.

I hope you all enjoy these wonderful sayings and items as much as I do.

Fashion Friday

Today, I am wearing a Vineyard Vines tunic from their new Fall collection.

I have to admit that I sort of gave up on all of my Lilly tunics this past summer. I felt as though they were unflattering on me. I tried this on and - voila! My picture is blurry and I apologize for that, but I can't tell you how much I love this top. The cut is fantastic. It's sexy but forgiving. It's comfortable and cute. It's my sorority colors, which is perfect, as I'm traveling to see sisters today. Best of all - this piece is full fledged Fall, but reminds me of being on the water in Connecticut this past Summer. The best of both worlds!

Oh, and guess what else I'm wearing today?

Hehehe.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Think Pink Tuesday and Girls Night Out!

I recently won two tickets to Shecky's Girls Night Out on Miss Dollface's blog! I asked my partner in crime to join me. After all, shopping and open bars are the stuff our friendship is built on.

Here we are trying the new Bud Light Golden Wheat. Tastes sort of like regular Bud Light, so of course I loved it. Some of you may remember that I attended this event back in June as well. It's always a doozie. Thanks to Dollface for such a great giveaway!

I am loving this DKNY cardigan, which can be purchased at, you guessed it, Bloomingdales!

Feminine and flirty. A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Two great things I discovered this weekend

1) Trish McEvoy - the woman, not the makeup!

I've been wearing Trish McEvoy since I was in high school. This is a brand that has taken me from day to night, from the pool to a party, from finals to formals. As much as I love glittery brands like Nars and Urban Decay, if I had to pick one line to use for the rest of my life, it would without a doubt be Trish.

(That's Trish, on the left, and her VP of marketing on the right.)

I recently attended an event at Bloomingdales in which Trish chatted with a small group for about 30 minutes while she did a makeup application, and afterwards each woman in the group got their makeup done. I loved watching and listening to her. I found her to be candid and charming. It's always nice to meet the person behind the product and realize that they're just as wonderful as what they're making!

Unfortunately, the second half of my session was not as enjoyable. I was matched with an incredibly rude employee, who, instead of applying my makeup (as was promised) asked me which one product I was interested in, applied it to my skin, and then said, "So what do you want to buy today?" I've worked with lots of lovely ladies at Trish counters in the past, but this woman was abrasive and unprofessional. Oh, well! You win some, you lose some.

2) Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Spice decaffeinated tea.

I'm fairly certain that I've mentioned at one point or another that I have Mitrol Valve Prolapse. No biggie, I just can't have caffeine. It's too tough on my heart. I'm always on the lookout for great decaf drinks. (If you have any suggestions, do share! I'm all ears.) This past weekend, I dined at Delicatessen and was offered cinnamon tea. I love just about anything with cinnamon. After sipping this delicious drink, I knew I had to have more. I searched on the Harney & Sons website, and lucky for me, they JUST started offering this flavor decaffeinated. I ordered it in bulk. :)

What did you discover this weekend?

Fashion Friday

I told you I would try it!

Okay, so it's not exactly what I said I'd try, but I paired my pink tights with a pretty, frilly black dress and I am love, love, loving this look.

What are you wearing today?

Wishes for a wonderful weekend!

Parallel Universe and PAG makes a comeback!

I love the idea of getting recurring fun emails in my inbox, like Daily Candy (which I get for three cities - Miami, Dallas, and NYC) but the truth is that I often don't have the right moment to spare to read each one. I recently signed up for The Zoe Report, Rachel Zoe's version of Daily Candy, in an effort to keep myself informed. This email is a great way to stay in touch with what's going on. It's a quick, fun read. She features a single item each day, always high end, and also features a "Parallel Universe" item, which is a similar version of the real thing, but at much lower cost. I'm not sure I love the term, but I do like the idea. I had my own PU experience yesterday that I'd like to share with you now.

I recently fell in love with the below headband at J. Crew, but didn't buy it for the following reasons:

1) I have a big head that most headbands don't fit well.
2) I don't look at headbands as an investment piece, and $18.50 for one is a bit steep in my mind.

I stopped in Forever 21 yesterday on a whim and found this lookalike for $3.80. The best part about it is that it fits incredibly comfortably, unlike it's pricy counterpart above.

Voila!

Some of you long-timers know that my little sister, the Baby Fashionista, used to write a blog somewhat similar to TZR, where she featured one basic item per post and showed it in different designs by a vary of designers. Her posts were funny and very personable - just like her. I'm happy to announce that she's back with a vengance - and a new blog! An Outfit A Day Keeps The Fashion Police Away chronicles her daily outfits, which are far more interesting than the ones I post on Twitter. Promise.

See?

Have a fashionable Thursday!

Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Today has been an icky day for JGIWC. Lots of crying, sniffling, and feeling worthless all around. So, what do I do when I'm feeling blue?

Eat. And plan parties.

I know I've raved about Paperless Post before, but I simply must again. I am hosting a shindig in several weeks and decided to use PP for my invitations. When you join, you are awarded with 25 invites, and I still have about half of that amount left in my quota. I was able to design the invites from scratch, no detail left unnoticed. Each invitation is delivered to the recipient's inbox in an "envelope" with their name on it. I find this to be a step up and a bit more personal than other invitation websites I've worked with.

And unlike those other websites, Paperless Post offers "boxed" note cards and Save the Dates. If you want to send a nice note to a friend but don't have time to run to the post office, look no further.

And now that I've completed my invitations, it looks like it's time to drown my sorrows in a sinful lunch.

Think Pink, Kate, and Kappa

Bloomingdales does something special for breast cancer each October. This year, they're hosting a "Little Pink Bag Sweepstakes". For every new email address, they'll donate $1 to the BCRF. No purchase is necessary to enter. I just entered and I hope you will too!

As we all know, I LIVE for Kate Spade. I adore her designs AND she's my sorority sister which makes it all that much sweeter. I was recently asked to take a survey on the compnay and upon completion was rewarded with a coupon that entitled me to $20 off of a purchase of $50 or more. I stopped in yesterday to treat myself to a bracelet I've had my eye on for some time. Tres Teddi!

I also want to take this opportunity to wish all of my Kappa sisters a very happy Founders Day. If only Minnie, Anna, Susan, Hanna, Mary, and Martha could see us now... they would be so proud.

29 is the new 30

This past weekend, my parents hosted a party for their 29th wedding anniversary, which was approrpriately themed, "29 is the new 30". The party was held at hotspot Pop Burger and was complete with napkins and M&Ms inscribed with this cute catchphrase. My parents were married on September 28, 1980 at the Pierre Hotel, which, coincedentally, is only a few blocks away from where we were celebrating on Saturday night.

My dress is Tracy Reese and my shoes and bag are Kate Spade.

I love this photo.

I gave a toast and cried the entire time I made it. After the tears subsided, it was time to party! We drank and danced the night away.

My parents are the most beautiful couple and I thank my lucky stars every single day that they're MINE. I am endlessly grateful for my family, friends, and to be surrounded by such wonderful people. Thank you to everyone who makes my life so sweet.

Find of the week

I have a lot of rules in life. I'd record some of them here, but then you'd think I'm crazy. I mean, I am, but why give more proof?

Anyway, I have a cardinal shopping rule: if ever I see a great Little Black Dress on sale, I buy it. A girl can NEVER have too many LBD's. I have a number of them in my closet with the tags still on.

I recently ran to my beloved Filene's Basement to check out the Vineyard Vines selection and see if they had any cords in my size. They didn't, but they had an ample rack of recently discounted items that I tore through. I found a beautiful off-white winter dress that I thought would be perfect for me, but each one my hand landed on wasn't my number! I knew I struck gold when I found the same dress in black in my size!

I'm not sure when this dress is from but it retailed for $195 and I paid $34.98! It has a tonal print and a big black grosgrain bow. This photo doesn't do it justice, but if you click it and zoom in, you can make it out a bit better. Are you in love? I know I am.

Jewish Girl in Little Clothing

Most of the time I'm Jewish Girl in Wasp's Clothing. Prim and proper in a conservative outfit that's never without a bow. But there is a small side of me that always wishes that I were blessed with a beautiful body, face, and a few more inches of height. Secretly, I've always wanted to be a model. I've always wanted to dress up as a Playboy Bunny for Halloween. Someday, I'll gather up the courage.

So, when I got invited to attend a Hooters party as media, I jumped at the chance! Today I was a Jewish Girl in Little Clothing.

I enlisted my trusty CJM to attend the party with me. I got a calendar signed by many lovely ladies and we took a photo, in which I look entirely giddy. The girls were both pretty and sweet.

After Hooters, CJM and I headed to Stone Rose, a spectacular spot in Columbus Circle with an unbelievable view of the city. My cocktail was so-so, but my food was fabulous.

And, of course...

HOOTY HOOT!

Thanks to Parenteau Guidance for the invite tonight. It sure was a HOOT!

Sisters, snacks and a spa

Each Fall, my sorority hosts a kickoff party and last night, we hosted it at Dermalogica. Although we're all alumnae, we still think of Autumn as "back to school". It's when we collect yearly membership dues and celebrate our Founders. Being the consummate sorority girl I am, I live for this time of year.

Living in New York city often poses a problem. Where can you hold a gathering in a space large enough to fit 50+ women without breaking the bank? Dermalogica has a beautiful space in SoHo and the women there were wonderful to work with. Each girl that attended got a certificate for a complimentary 20-minute facial (normally $35). I booked mine and also picked up Skin Smoothing Cream, which is a nighttime moisturizer.

Our limited options in the Big Apple have caused us to be creative, but I highly recommend looking into hosting a party at a spa no matter where you live! The atmosphere is relaxed and fun. Thanks to the Dermalogica team for an excellent event!

Think Pink Monday

Some of you may remember that I did a post last October featuring products whose proceeds went towards various Breast Cancer causes. This year, I've decided to have Think Pink Mondays and feature a different product each Monday.

This beautiful bracelet of freshwater pearls and sterling silver is made by Carolee and can be purchased at Bloomingdales or at www.carolee.com. 10% of all sales from this product will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Be aware. Think Pink.

SWAP! Why? 'Cause it's 'WASP' with the S in front!

After the huge success of my monogram swap, I've decided to host another.

Here are the rules:

Leave a comment here with your email address if you'd like to participate. I'll assign partners Monday, October 5.

Spend $20-$25 on a monogrammed gift for your partner.

Send the gift no later than Friday, October 23. (If you are ordering online, you'll probably want to ship the item directly to your partner).

Happy October!
