I spent Sunday with my family and complained to both of my parents that my face hurt, specifically right above my sinuses and near my left eye. I figured that my sinuses were very backed up because I cried so much the night before. (I'm totally fine, just had one of those "I'm all alone" moments and had a nice, cleansing sobfest.) I took Advil PM on Sunday evening and slept like a rock.
I woke up yesterday morning with a more intense pain around my eye. I touched the skin around it and it felt raw. I ran to the mirror to discover a very puffy (and painful) eye. I spent an hour and a half waiting at the doctors office for him to spend exactly 60 seconds with me and determine that I have a stye (not Pink Eye, as I'd guessed).
Despite my discomfort and general unattractive state, I actually managed to check everything off of my Monday to do list:
Buy Dad a birthday gift - Done! He turns 55 on March 30, and we're cruising to Mexico to celebrate! I can't say what I got him, but I will say that I put a lot of thought into it and I think it's the perfect pressent.
Make Easter Brunch reservations - Done! We're going to Norma's. I have Easter brunch every year. I even got to go to church a few times and they were all lovely experiences. I do miss living in Dallas this time of year and seeing "HE IS RISEN" signs on peoples' front lawns. Yes, I'm Jewish and I like Easter. Judge away. It's fine.
Write a Thank You note to a dear friend's parents - Done! On my favorite Vera Wang Thank You stationery. Her birthday was on Sunday and her parents took her closest friends (including yours truly) out to dinner.
Read "Shoo, Jimmy Choo" - Done! Finished it in the waiting room at the doctor. It's a book about personal finance for young women. The author is speaking at Junior League Headquarters on Thursday and I'll be attending. I highly recommend this book to my female readers!
Okay, clearly this was far from a strenuous list, but I feel content that I was somewhat productive despite my pitiful demeanor.
I used to get styes (I'm not sure how to make that word pulural) a lot, and the best thing to do is put a warm washcloth on it until it gets cold. For some reason it really helps. I love that you like Easter. It doesn't hurt anything. Hope your eye feels better!
ReplyDeleteI would ask the doctor about your makeup, too, if you haven't already -- sometimes they make you throw your mascara & liner out :( ... but then I guess you'll get to buy new ones :)
ReplyDeleteSo the book was good?? I havent gotten a chance to read it yet, xxxoo
ReplyDeleteMy son used to get styes all the time. The warm washcloth trick is the best thing to use for some relief. The doctor also suggested using a very small amt of Johnson's baby bath(tear free) on the wash cloth. I hope you feel batter soon!
ReplyDeleteI cannot spell-I hope you feel better:)
ReplyDeleteI actually had a stye last weekend...i thought my eye looked a little pink and woke up sunday morning with it puffy, swollen and painful. It resembled something from a sci-fi movie. Needless to say I didn't go to church! But I feel your pain!
ReplyDeletei have had them too, don't they feel like your eye is black and blue? Ugh.. What did he prescribe?? good news is that it is only temporary. here is to checking things off the to-do list! xo
ReplyDeleteOMG! Just discovered your blog...knew from the title alone I was gonna love you! I get a stye once every two years or so, will be gone by Mexico, don't worry! Off to discover more of your adorableness (I'm kvelling!) on the inside and giving you an approving glance on my very proper outside! ;)
ReplyDeleteUgh, I hate styes! I haven't gotten one in a while but they feel like crap. Thankfully they feel better after a few days though. Hope you have a good day!
ReplyDeleteI hope your poor eye is doing better!
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds good. In true frugalista style, I'm going to get it from the library. ;-)
I'm Christian and I think Jewish holidays are the coolest, so it's great that you love Easter! ;-)
We will want lots of pictures from the cruise, ya know!
I hope your eye is healing!
