From one "Kappa Prep" to another

My sorority sister and friend, Kappa Prep, tagged me to do the below meme. I tag anyone who loves a good questionnaire as much as I do, which I hope is many of you.

Favorite color: Yellow. It is so vibrant and explosive and happy, kind of like me.
Favorite Brands/Designers: I'm all about the P's. Phillip Lim and Prada.
Favorite Restaurant: I'm fairly certain that this survey originated in Dallas, so I'm going to tell you my favorite restaurants there, which are: III Forks, Citizen (is it still good?), Mango, May Dragon, and, OF COURSE, Mi Cocina. (Keep in mind that I haven't lived there in over 7 years and am a little behind on the Big D food scene!)
Hobbies: "She loves to laugh, she loves to sing, she loves everything..."
Favorite thing about yourself: My sunny disposition, positive outlook, and optimistic point of view.
What does your room look like (color scheme, theme, etc.): My apartment IS my room as I live in a studio. Lots of blue, seashells, and clean lines. I'm going for a Hamptons beach house look.
If you could have dinner with 2 people (dead or alive) who would they be: Larry David and no one else. I want him all to myself.
What is your next “big splurge”: A pair of Christian Louboutins.
What is your favorite joke, quote, or saying: Oh, so many. "Go the extra mile. It's never crowded." And, "I do hate myself, but it has nothing to do with being Jewish." And, of course, "But it's good to remember love is possible. Anything is possible. This is New York." And if you know where any of those are from, I love you.
Anything else you would like us to know about you (random fact)!? Oh God. I think I've told you far too much already.

  1. I thought your favorite designer was Lilly?

I know the first quote is from Wayne Dyer. I'm going to guess the next two are from your Larry David (which is funny to me because that's my dad's name) and SATC, respectively? Oh, love me even if I'm wrong, wouldja? ;-)

  2. Will always love and respect Lilly; would not call her my favorite designer. One of my icons, definitely.

    Right you are! Love ya!

  6. Were you in Philly this weekend? I think I saw you at the jcrew downtown! I would have said hello, but I was feeling sweaty from bike riding, and a little nerdy/shy. I was the gal in mint green shorts and vintage Weejuns, holding a bike basket. Your sundress was cute! :)

  7. You are the biggest wannabe to ever grace the planet. Your family would never even be considered to join a real "WASP" country club if they tried. Sorry honey, you can dream.

Keep your Lilly and your laughable UCF (can barely type without laughing) degree and good luck!!

  8. I tried to respond by email, but you didn't leave an address. I'm not quite sure where you get off. My family has no interest joining a "Wasp country club" as we're JEWISH. As far as I know I haven't done anything to insult you personally and so there is no need to publicly degrade me. You sound important enough to have far better things to do with your time, especially since you went to a better school than UCF. My blog is silly and clearly you took it a bit too seriously. Please stay far away from it and me. Thanks.

  9. OMG C@ROLINE GET A LIFE! Teddy is to nice and proper to say anything but just in the few lines you wrote it is CLEAR you are an ignorant, pathetic, bitter woman who should probably worry more about the fact that she can't do anything to stop her thighs from rubbing together and less about what social clubs this girls family belong to...

Teddy - you are a fantastic girl and silly or not your blog is very well written, entertaining and inspirational. Keep up the good work and let this crew neck sweater, field hockey playing WASP horror crawl back under whatever rock she came out from!

  10. It's completely sad when some people feel the need to bring others down just because they're unhappy with their own lives ... hey "Caroline"- if you're so much better than JGIWC, then what are you doing even bothering to read and comment on her blog? Don't you have better, cooler, and more important things to do somewhere else? Get a life.

  11. You handled that inane commenter with class and poise. Good for you! She gives Carolines everywhere a bad name :-)

  12. Some people just can't stand it when they see other people happy and successful, and that is clearly the case with whoever "Caroline" is. People only hate the things they can't get and the people they can't be.

Your blog is fabulous, and so are you!

  13. Caroline - who are you and what is your problem? If you have such an issue with this blog why are you reading it let alone commenting on it? Get a life.

    TAG - I adore you.

  14. Hi Teddi,

I adore your blog, and feel I must finally post a comment.

First, I used to teach at UCF. A University is truly defined by its students. People like YOU make UCF great! This is a big part of why I loved teaching there :)

Second, if Caroline really thought about the contemporary cultural use of the acronym
"WASP," then she would recognize that it is often not used *literally* but as a label signifying cultural preferences and ideals that may, in fact, have nothing to do with faith or ethnicity. Her post says a lot about her manners--really distancing her from said label. Hmmm...

Her attitude is outdated and prejudiced. I applaud you for having the chutzpah to take from this cultural label whatever suits you. That's your right, and you do it with such grace, style and humor.

In the process, you do a lot to redefine "WASP-dom" and to help your readers see that it can (and should be!) an inclusive lifestyle. Perhaps Caroline is envious of your success. Or, maybe she's just jealous because she isn't one of the Chosen People?

    Well, nobody's perfect :)

    Your Fan in Winter Park,
    Anne
