"Happiness is a fickle houseguest: She shows up at surprising times, but when she leaves, YOU KNOW SHE'LL BE BACK."

I read this yesterday in Whole Living magazine and it really resonated with me. It feels so very poignant and accurate. I apologize for the lack of blogging this week; I have been sick with an awful head cold. I worked from home on Tuesday. On one of my trips down to the laundry room, I looked in the elevator mirror and smiled. A sudden wave of contentment washed over me. It wasn't from how I looked, per se (no makeup, hair au naturel) but rather the WAY I looked. There was a light in my eyes that shone brightly even through the sickness.

Happiness is a mood - not a destination. But it's also a journey. Figuring out how to be happy and what makes you happy. In many ways, that's what the recent past has been for me. Living on an even keel rather than a roller coaster. It's certainly not as dramatic, but it is far more enjoyable.

Whole Living had a great big section about happiness that is worth reading. In fact, I'll be packing mine up and mailing it to one of my favorite gals... Gotta spread the cheer!

I'll be on vacation next week but will have my iPad and will attempt to get a few posts up!

Bon voyage and wishes for a wonderful weekend!

  8. hope you have a terrific vacation!! i was going to send this to you as a message but the "love letters" section wasn't working for me. like you, i LOVE kate spade and thought you might be interested in the collection they're doing with the organization with women for women. they are unveiling a new collection created by women in Rwanda for International Women's Day (March 8). I am in no way affiliated with either women for women or kate spade; I just wanted to tell you about something I thought was really great. you are a terrific person and i LOVE your blog (as a fellow Jewish Girl in WASP's Clothing, living in DC by way of Palm Beach) and wish you all the best and all the happiness you deserve!!
