Cheap Thrills

A penny saved is a penny earned and lately, with the excessive expenses that seem to come along with being 26, I'm pinching all of mine. Though I haven't been shopping much lately, I've noticed a pattern when I do. Much of what I'm buying is under $20!

My dad and I ventured out to the suburbs on Saturday and stumbled upon a Yankee candle store. I can't remember the last time, if ever, I've been in one. I was immediately drawn to the Fall scents - it's always been my favorite part about the season because they can be enjoyed in any weather (ahem, Florida). It's damn near impossible to choose - they're all so delicious. I decided to get two, which didn't make it that much easier. Finally, with some help from Pops, I settled on Farmer's Market and Maple Pancakes. I got the small jars, which are $10.99 each. In thinking about it, I can't believe I haven't ever given these as gifts. Who wouldn't love to receive this?

Did anyone else know that Yankee Candle makes lip balm? I sure didn't, and it was a sweet surprise upon taking my candles to checkout. Cinnamon & Sugar is one of my favorite combinations on earth, right up there with Pink & Green, Snoopy & Woodstock. I'm now regretting not grabbing an armful because this flavor isn't available on their website and I worry it's discontinued. For $3.99, my lips are in heaven.

I love green and have been wanting a dressy dress in this hue for quite some time. I did extensive research online and at various department stores, but ultimately decided that I'm not in a place to spend hundreds of dollars on a colored frock that doesn't serve a specific purpose (IE, bridesmaid dress). I ordered this one from Forever 21 for the fair price of $19.80. I figure it'll look great with nude or gold pumps and if it's too small or unflattering on me, I can pass it along to a pal or my little sis without feeling like I invested too much.

Though I think the one thing that's kept my spirits high for a small price is a good ol' Pumpkin Spice Latte. Tall, decaf, nonfat, no whip.

  1. I am addicted to pumpkin spice lattes. If it weren't for nonfat, no whip, I would probably weigh a LOT right now.

  2. Yep, Yankee Candles are great. The price is right and the scents are lovely and just strong enough. Your picks sound great!

I think that color green will look fab on you!

Hee hee, I had my first PSL of the season today. Totally worth it.

  3. Yankee Candle is kind of amazing. Storm Watch is my favorite, and I did not know they made lip balm, so I will most definitely be looking into it. Oh, and I love Pumpkin Spice Lattes!

  4. I adore Yankee Candles. I can't even tell you how many of the huge 22oz jars I've blown through, literally. It's so bad that when I lived in Avalon Park my senior year, the guy who came to change the air filter asked if I was a frequent candle burner, and then showed me the filter. SOLID black. I couldn't believe it! Whoops. And yes, my mom got me some of the Yankee Candle lip balm for Christmas a few years back--in my favorite scent, which is Vanilla Cupcake!

  5. Love Yankee Candles, especially the tart warmers. My friend in Texas got me hooked on Scentsy candles (electric), you should check it out.

The green dress is amazing, can dress it up or down depending on occasion.
