Pumpkins and pine cones and wreaths, oh my!

This afternoon, my dear friend Blair's Headband and I took a trip to Manhattan's Upper West Side. The main purpose of our jaunt uptown was to check out Michael's, but we were pleasantly surprised to find a mecca of suburbia, right in the middle of our city. Nestled right beside Michael's was T.J.Maxx, Home Goods, and Whole Foods!

Here I am, waiting in line with my goodies. I was so excited to be back in Michael's - it ALWAYS reminds me of living in Texas. (This is probably the one and only time I'll be thankful for my BlackBerry camera and its fuzzy photos - because I wasn't wearing a stitch of makeup so the blur seems to be working in my favor!)

I have been wanting to make a mini wreath for my front door, and this seemed like the perfect resource. I picked up a six inch wreath and a wired glitter garland.

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out. It's beyond simple, which is exactly what I wanted. I can't wait to buy a hook so I can hang it on my front door. I just hope no one steals it!

I also picked up a bag of miniature scented pine cones. They just smelled so darn good. I live for fall scents! I filled a few mason jars (seals off) with them...

...and used the rest (including those adorable tiny pumpkins!) for my cake plate center piece.

I sure have loved getting crafty lately. What DIY projects have you been up to?

  4. Such a beautiful wreath! During my time in Boston, I used to take walks up Beacon Hill and adore the quaint front doors with their simple, yet gorgeous wreaths.

  6. I always do serious shopping in Michael's. I'm working on a hand stitched Christmas stocking for my youngest nephew, go through tons of needles and needle threaders.

    Have a wonderful weekend
