Shopping hiatus

Yea, you read that right.

WAH.

After taking stock of my wardrobe and checking my MasterCard statement, I've decided that I need to put a hold on clothing purchases for awhile. This is not easy for me to say or do and I used to never make these sorts of promises or statements because they're usually empty... I always have my eye on something and am a great bargain hunter.

We all know that I live in a very small apartment and space is limited. Additionally, I'm still getting rid of clothes that no longer fit and aren't worth taking in. I need to set aside an afternoon to organize both my armoire and my closet which I anticipate will be challenging (see previous blog post) but I know I'll feel a million times better afterward.

Quality over quantity. Less is more. It's all about investment pieces. Wah wah we wah.

Of course in the mean time, I have pink pants on the brain. Again. Wouldn't these look great with a crisp white shirt and metallic Jack Rogers?

Pray for me.

  1. RIGHT THERE WITH YA GIRL. I find that if I'm REALLY wanting to shop, I instead will just go through the dark recesses of my closet and try to make a brand new outfit out of pieces I haven't assembled together before.

  2. I try sooo hard to do this... but once I make room in my closet I just want to fill it up!
But I am on a product hiatus this month - trying to use up all the samples and half empty bottles I have before setting foot into Sephora!
    Good luck!!

  3. I actually make a list of things "I need" and throw in a couple of things I want on it. It's REALLY helped me cut down on my spending!

  4. Hang in there! It's a hard goal, but I try to take a month off from clothes shopping at least twice a year to "catch up" on bills! You'll be suprised what you can make "look new" or what you have ignored wearing in favor of buying something new all this time!

  5. I know exactly what you mean, i have so much stuff, i have no clue what i even have in my wardrobe. We have three bedrooms and all of them have my clothes in them, bahh!!.

Well meaning friends and family give me their clothes if they no longer wear something or if it would fit me better.

Until i lose major weight and need to buy "skinny" clothes, i am not buying anything new the rest of this year, except for maybe some adorable shoes :)

  7. I just cleaned out my closet, Ebay-ed some stuff and Goodwilled the others. It is so funny how *removing* things from my closet actually made me feel like I have more clothes!
