Favorite iPhone apps

Sharing some of mine in hopes that you'll share a few of yours. I'm really in search of a few great health and fitness apps to hold me accountable to my workout schedule and eating goals, but any great app recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

This app is called Do!. Still getting used to it, but couldn't resist the cute font and patterns.

This is the DailyHoroscope app. It's free and, for me, almost always pretty accurate.

This is the Aviary app. Gives your photos a little extra pizazz. Used it on the next photo...

Woohoo bowtie! This is the MyFitnessPal app... I use it when I need to get back on track.

I've mentioned the Zite app before - it makes you your own personalized magazine. Very cool.

Your turn!

Weekend treats

Well, I've cut myself off from buying clothes for the next month or so. I need to completely reassess my fall wardrobe and regroup before making any purchases. Honestly, I'm trying to spend as little as possible but a mix of want and need always gets in the way.

I bought new headphones and an arm band for my iPhone. I had intentions of running on Saturday but bad weather and a lot of wine the night before stood in my way. Wah.

My parents went to to Super Saturday and brought me back some goodies that I'm SUPER excited about. I have lots of little trips coming up so the new cosmetic bags are really going to come in handy. I own that Kendra Scott necklace in a light orange and love it - I've been wanting navy jewelry so badly recently! And who doesn't love a good Fresh lipgloss? My parents know me so well.

My favorite item in the goody bag is definitely this exhale DVD. There's a coupon on the inside for a free class and $25 off a spa service! I can't wait to treat myself.

My mom also treated me to a new pair of nude heels. Was there ever a more flattering pair of shoes?

How was your weekend?

J. Crock

So, a few days ago I received my quarterly "Thanks for shopping at J. Crew and for letting us drive you passenger seat to the poorhouse, here's your reward for using your J. Crew card" $25 gift card. I know. Big money! How am I going to spend all that dough, you ask?

Perfect shirt in mini-gingham... styled exactly as shown.

Zigzag sequin dress... FABULOUS. But not styled as shown. Loubs, please!

Collection cashmere long-sleeve tee... really into fuchsia for fall.

Biennial medium satchel... completely impractical in all the best ways.

Receipt pouch... have loved this for months, and it wouldn't even break the bank.

What do you think?

teddiseven and a half

Today I am 27 and a half, but really I am teddiseven and a half.

And oh, what a glorious six months it has been!

A few things to confess:

When I was planning my birthday party that is now affectionately and infamously known as #teddiseven, I thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if this were the year that I meet that great guy. And so I decided that I may as well go out with a bang and be the rockin' single gal that I am. A dinner with an open bar, bottles in a club and Patron party favors were in order. And it was a thousand percent  the best party I've ever had in my life.

A dear friend of mine recently turned 25 and was feeling a bit down on her luck about being single and not living quite the life she'd imagined she would be. To which I said you know what, it gets better. Hang in there. My life began at 25.

And it's true.

My mom recently told me that I've completely reverted back to who I was as a child. When I was little, I would wake up every day and sing at the top of my lungs. Life was good and I was a happy ball of energy that couldn't be contained. Still am. I no longer sing upon waking, but I sure do smile.

So as good as these first six months were, I can't wait to see what the next six bring. I'm traveling to California to visit a best friend I made on Birthright. I'm hosting my first bridal shower. And then my second. My two best friends are getting married. I'm spending Thanksgiving with Nana for the first time in 5 years.

My mom was right. No matter how old I am, I will always be that kid. Happy teddiseven and a half to me!

And yes... I'm already planning teddieight.

What's in JGIWC's bag?

The bag:

Marc Jacobs Large Single Quilted Bag. I lusted after this for months and I'm so happy I got it. It goes with almost everything and is the perfect day-to-night bag.

The contents:

Fendi wallet. My parents surprised me with this a few months ago. I have always been partial to continental style wallets so they knew I'd be happy to make the switch. This little guy has so much room and always zips up beautifully. (My last billfold often wouldn't snap shut). Sometimes the best gifts are for no reason at all!

iPhone + Tory Burch iPhone 4S cover. Perri actually found this cover for me. We have a long-running inside joke about seahorses, and it's certainly my favorite aquatic animal. We were shopping in Bloomingdales one day and I said "Let me just see if they have it", assuming they wouldn't because when does Bloomingdales ever have anything I want/need... And they did! iPhone covers are some lucrative business. 48 bucks for a piece of plastic. But I love it and have to look at it a whole lot so it'd better be cute. Plus, it has a 'T'!

Tory Burch card case. Picked this up during Tory's Friends & Family sale. On a daily basis, I use this for train tickets, MetroCard, etc. For nights out when I'm using a small bag, I use my Louis Vuitton key case to do double duty as a wallet, but for nights I don't need to lug around house keys (helloooooo Hamptons) this does the trick.

Tory Burch key ring. Hmm. I see a pattern here. My mom bought me this on a trip to Florida last year. It always makes me smile.

YSL Candy Balm in Juicy Grapefruit. I don't do red lipstick or thick, sticky lipgloss. But you can always find me in a sleek balm with little to no color. This is the perfect hybrid because it has the look of a gloss without the feel of it and makes my lips light pink and look a little wet. Sexy.

L'Oreal blush. An impulse buy that I ended up loving. This sleek little compact has a great mirror and the plastic brush it came with actually doesn't suck. It's a pretty bronze color that's easy to blend and always perks up my cheeks a bit.

Pony-o's. I feel a sense of claustrophobia if I don't have one in arm's reach. I need to be able to pull my hair up, 24 hours a day. I always need the option.

Shu Uemera eyelash curler. A certain boyfriend (I'm looking at you) was always very intent on my eyelashes looking long. I now go nowhere without this. Blair's Head Band bought me one during her last trip to London so that I'd have an extra to carry around with me. I re-curl my lashes throughout the day/night. Whipped this baby out on Saturday night and got laughed at. But hey, my eyes never looked better! Thanks, dude! ;)

Hand sanitizer. I'm a total germophobe. Bath and Body Works is my brand of choice.

Trident Vitality Gum. It's fancy.

Headphones. For rocking out to Cinderella Man on my walk to the subway.

Back to the grind

How was your weekend?

Mine started off with a bang - dinner at Buddakan for my mom's birthday! Always a hit.

Friday was spent with girlfriends: SoulCycle, brunch, coffee, and cocktails... this caramel latte was beyond delightful.

The best way to start Saturday is at Soul. Got this adorable tote in the mail from Semi Colon Girl!

One of my best friends was in town this weekend. We and another Soul Sista treated ourselves to post-ride brunch at Stanton Social! If you haven't been, YOU MUST.

We also treated ourselves to blowouts at Drybar before dinner.

We sat near a rowdy crowd at dinner and convinced the waiter to bring us free shots to compensate. It was more a teeny tiny frozen drink than it was a shot, but made for a great photo op nonetheless!

MMM, I miss you already! Come back soon!

It's sure a good thing that I love Mondays because otherwise I'd be one crabby Teddi today. Always happy to welcome a new week, a clean slate. Tell me how your weekend was. Good, I hope?

Friday five - Teddi on the run

Woohoo! Bringing a classic back. So if you follow me on Twitter or have talked to me in the past three days, you know that I've been toying around with the idea of taking up running. More on that later, but in the meantime... Drumroll please... The first five things I want to buy for my new hobby!

Because why even do it if you can't look good? Am I right?

Amphipod Squeezable

Okay, gotta run. Tee hee! Wishing you a wonderful weekend, my dear readers.

Things I just don't understand

Why hasn't SoapNet bought the rights to Dawson's Creek yet?

What is the point of the "Jackpot" on Wheel of Fortune? No one EVER wins it.

Why isn't there a Lululemon in Midtown?

Why do I always want Special K, even when I'm not hungry?

Why do people tweet questions with factual answers? Wouldn't Google be more efficient?

Why oh why on Earth do people step on other people's yoga mat when going to retrieve/put back props? GO AROUND ME.

Why do people take so long to answer a text message? This is 2012, and we are all glued to our phones. No one is fooling me!

Why does summer always go by faster than any other season?

Okay. You, go.

Bluesday inspiration

Tuesday (Bluesday) has always been my least favorite day of the week, and I'm guessing at least one of you feels the same way.

For me, it's crucial to keep an extra positive mindset on the third day of the week. Otherwise I risk falling into a slump. Below, a few items to help keep your Bluesday at bay!

(this may or may not be my life motto)

An interview on Move Your Booty with one of my favorite SoulCycle instructors, Charlee. I first took her class in January when she was new on the scene. Now she has such a following that I have to fight to get a bike in her class! She is wildly inspiring and I have an insane girl crush on her. Look for her in an upcoming issue of Fitness magazine. What a star!

Food for thought: "A workout should be a worship, not a punishment." Words of wisdom from the spin studio. I truly learn some of the best life lessons on the bike. I know it's very easy for us girls to say, "I feel fat; I need to workout" or "I ate too much... Off to the gym." The truth is that I cringe whenever my friends/sisters/family members say anything in this vein but I am guilty of it too. No more. I'm going to commend my body for its strength, not ridicule it for its big appetite.

Anyone else experience Bluesday?

Little pleasures

Did everyone have a good weekend?

Enjoyed a breakfast of scrambled egg whites with swiss cheese and a banana after my SoulCycle class.

I'm fiercely loyal to two lip products: Laura Mercier Lip Balm and Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Sheer Candy Glossy Balm (in 03 Juicy Grapefruit). I honestly never know why I even buy other products. But I saw this while running through CVS and couldn't resist. I love Dr. Pepper but don't let myself drink it too often. This is a guiltless indulgence.

Spent a day at the beach. Here I am with one of the loves of my life...

...and here I am with the other.

This horoscope made me smile.

Forgot to show you these wooden blocks I bought in Sag Harbor. I got the "IT'S WINE O'CLOCK" one for Blair's Head Band, too! Next to one of my all-time favorite photos of Baby Teddi and the JDIPC.

What did I do before the iPhone camera?

Things that make me happy this week

My new neon duds from SoulCycle.

Dinner with Perri and dessert with my parents.

Pinterest inspiration boards for the two bridal showers I'm hosting with my mom this summer.

This text from a girlfriend: "I'm in love with (my boyfriend)".

Arie. Just Arie.

Wearing my hair au natural because I'm too lazy to blow-dry it.

Yoga.

The new strawberry shortcake cookie at Crumbs. Lowest calorie item on the menu!

Getting the first shout out from the instructor in spin class. "Nice, Teddi!" during the jumps.

Later getting a "You look amazing Teddi!" tweet from said instructor.

White Girl Problems

I love food too much.

I'm too tall and Jewish boys are too short.

I spent $30 on a tanning bed session/J Woww bronzer and look the exact same as before.

I can't afford enough SoulCycle.

My appetite is too big.

My apartment is too small.

I don't have a freezer or an oven and I'm convinced that I'd be thinner if I did.

The bust-focused bridesmaid dress I have to wear in October slid down to my waist when I tried it on because I have no bust to hold it up.

My head is too big for headbands.

I can't finish my book.

God, that felt good.

Quick escape out east

I was able to head back to the Hamptons this weekend for a blissful 48 hours. When it comes to going out east, I will always take what I can get. It's wonderful to have an escape so close to home, and I'm lucky enough to have such wonderfully sweet people in my life that I can stay with!

The weekend started off with the most delicious meal at Nammos. Yellow fin tuna with citrus soy dressing and soba noodles with honey. Oh my goodness!

Loved riding at the SoulCycle Barn in Bridgehampton. Except for the actual studio, it's all outdoors!

Afternoons were spent by the pool reading. I actually started and finished a book that wasn't on my list called 150 Pounds. Loved it. More on that later.

I can't say I watch what I eat when I'm out east. I go to town. Strawberry shortcake at Nobu.

I tore myself away from the pool and sunshine to sit in the shade and enjoy a cheeseburger.

Always tough to pack and come back. I absolutely loathe the drive back to NYC, mostly for what it represents. Two SoulCycle laundry bags are a sign of a great weekend!

I find myself yearning for Florida even more so than usual this time of year. Honestly, I just feel better in general when I'm in close proximity to an ocean and swimming pools. I hope to make it out east a few more times before the seasons change.

Her head in the clouds and her nose in a book

I recently treated myself to a Nook Simple Touch (in a kate spade cover, obvi) and am super excited to have a light e-reader that I can tote around on a daily basis. I retired my Nook two Decembers ago when I got an iPad; I downloaded Nook for iPad which was the perfect hybrid. I love reading books on my iPad, but it's simply too heavy to carry around every day. Barnes & Noble was running a special - $79 for a Nook Simple Touch when you paid with your MasterCard. I had been thinking about purchasing it for months and figured for a deal that good, it was time to give in.

A few weeks after buying it, I'm so happy with my decision. I use it almost every single day and have read two books!

Oh my God, I loved this. Beyond. As sensitive of a person as I am, books NEVER make me cry. Well, I cried. On a train. (I know. I cannot. But I did.) I didn't want it to end and to be honest, it ended too soon for me and I didn't like the ending but I think that might be because I was so desperate for it to not end. Does that make any sense? Kind of?

It is An Age of Innocence of sorts, set in a Jewish community in Northwest London. I related to this so much and would recommend it to anyone, but especially Jewish women in their 20s and 30s. If you're reading it or already have, email me! I'm dying to talk to someone about it.

The truth is that I want to tell you this is hilarious in the worst was possible... and it was. But I'm also sort of secretly hoping Babe Walker will come across my blog and I'd hate to insult her. It's a quick, fun read that made my white girl problems seem WAY closer to being actual problems. Thanks, B!

Next on my list...

The Red House

Seating Arrangements

Summerland

Tell me what you're reading.

June update and July goals

June! Woof. Kinda glad it's over. You win some, you lose some. And I kinda lost most of these. Oh well!

Onto the next...

I already started Photo a Day via Instagram - if you don't follow me yet, please do! Getting back into the reading groove... will post about that soon. The plank goal was actually inspired by Ali on the Run. She can hold a plank for 5 minutes so I'm going for half of that (for now). I kicked off the month of July with SoulCycle class so I think I'm on track to complete that goal. Gonna try again for the Frying Pan this month. The bottom of my closet is seriously scaring me and I need to tackle it. I don't feel as strongly about yoga as I used to but I still think I need to make at least a small effort to keep it a part of my life. I'm going to frame a photo of Perri, me, and our two first cousins (the four grandkids) and send it to Nana. Have been dying to ride a bike in Central Park... now I just have to talk someone into going with me! Lastly, I need to remember and really try to drink a glass of water when I wake up every morning. Have read about the health benefits so many times and places!

Tell me what you hope to accomplish this month.

I left my heart in East Hampton

Well... kinda. Officially, I left my heart in Miami - always and forever - but oh, the East End. Such a soft spot. We had the best time out there and I'm so sad it's over.

Apologies for the completely unplanned hiatus... I had intended on putting up a few posts while away but really, really just needed to relax. The week away did me good.

Dinner at our favorite restaurant, Harvest on Fort Pound. Not a great shot, but my dress is Parker.

Clad in Brooks Brothers and ready to start the day.

Lunch at Cittanuova, my favorite Italian eatery in East Hampton.

Recreating a picture from four summers ago. I can't wait to frame this. Favorite photo from the trip.

A little like a walking J. Crew ad. Golden Pear iced tea... I had one of these every day. Can't get it in NYC, or anywhere but the Hamptons, for that matter.

Michael Kors bikini, Fendi shades. I never buy designer swimwear but this was on sale.

Ups. This suit is more my speed... from Victoria's Secret and less than fifty bucks.

Happy hour on the couch. Despite my initial ambitions, we ended up with a wine and beer bar only (at home). Love a HH I can wear a SoulCycle tee to.

My shorts are from Joe Fresh and were sixteen bucks. SO comfortable. This was taken in Sag Harbor shortly after an Andy Cohen sighting.

Beach yoga. I think I need to work on my down dog. It's not quite pointy enough.

I made a point of taking tons of photos but somehow it never feels like enough. These are just a few. Can't wait to print and frame. It was truly a fabulous and much-needed escape. I'm a bit sad to be back but hopeful that this month will be better than the last.
