Things I'm excited about this week

Kate Spade Saturday. Oh, it almost pains me to admit it! I am so interested to see this new, more accessible line from the team over at KS that I've been hearing about for months. I outfitted much of my new apartment in the home collection but have taken a step back from buying anything accessory- or apparel-related. I have just been so incredibly disappointed in their severe lack of customer service. Yes, I realize this paragraph is completely hypocritical and I'm fine with it. I am a curious little monkey and can't wait to finally see what's behind the curtain, even if I don't end up buying any of it.

Spring. For all of the obvious reasons, of course, but notably for the light. My half-marathon training starts next month, which I'm really looking forward to as well. Right now I haven't been running much because I refuse to do it in the dark. Even early in the morning or in the evening... I just don't feel comfortable. Because the sun is out for such a limited time, the weekdays are out. It's all treadmills and weekends for me. I'm hoping that the weather this weekend will be mild enough for me to throw on my Brooks and take a spin. And yes, I also want spring to arrive so that I can wear the above dress from Madewell.

Lithe Method. I learned about this from a recent article about SoulCycle in NYTimes.com. It's a Cardio-Cheer-Sculpting workout that is big in Philadelphia and coming soon to NYC. I want to point out that Cardio-Cheer-Sculpting is a registered trademark, but I can't find the little R in the circle to put next to it. I always wanted to do cheer in high school, but I went to high school in Texas, where cheerleading is literally life or death. You had to try out in front of the entire school and then they voted for their top choices on a test Scantron. Needless to say, I was not a cheerleader. And I cannot WAIT to try this.

What are you excited about?

  1. TOTALLY doing Lithe with you. Also I need spring to come because I am REALLY wanting to wear dresses but cannot fathom putting on tights.

  2. If you are interested in Lithe, you can find similar at most good gyms by using TRX or Kinesis wall by TechnoGym(actually 4 stations that can be combined in one undulating wall). TRX absolutely changed my life! I had a weight gain of 50 lbs 2 years ago which is HUGE, as I am only 5'2". It was due to complications from a medical condition as well as the medication I had to take for it, a very unwanted side effect of an unpleasant situation. (All is well medically now).

With the help of a PT, using primarily TRX with some ViPR and Kinesis, plus running(ish...I do 12 min miles, not fast!) 3-5 miles on nice days or erging 2-5k on not nice days, I lost the 50 (108) and have kept it off a year! I'm out of my pushing 6s days and back to my 0-2s with a 19.8 BMI and 18% body fat. Definitely achievable working out 60-90 mins 5-6 days/week! Keep moving! :)

ps You can create the &reg or &trade by typing & reg or & trade (remove spaces) in Windows. Or you can use Unicode. Mac is a little different. Here's a quick tutorial: http://fsymbols.com/computer/trademark/

    Have a great day! :)

  3. omg I want to try Lithe asap! Do you know when the NYC studio opens? I've been doing Pure Barre, but it is a bit repetitive and I need a change up of exercises.

  4. Lithe is awesome! As a Philly girl, I'm proud that this grew out of my city and the founder, Lauren, is amazing and creates these challenging workouts that are unlike anything else out there!

  5. I love Lithe! I do it as often as livingsocial or Rue La La allows me! Definitely try it out but be warned it's addicting!

  7. Kate Spade Saturday is available on Fab.com. I wanted to mention that since I noticed it there just today - they said it was an exclusive pop-up shop for Fab.
