Ah. Another week, another set of crappy iPhone food photos...
On Sunday, I met my friend Dollface for brunch! We went to a restaurant that specials in crepes. I had a savory ham and Swiss crepe and then we split a strawberry/banana/Nutella crepe. Delish!
(And look what she brought me from her Bumpy Jelly Bean loving hubby!)
Perri and I went out to Bill's Burgers & Bar after my run on Saturday. I don't really eat red meat except for that once in awhile when nothing sounds better than a cheeseburger.
Turkey and cheese from Subway. This was pure convenience, though I do love Subway. You can see I'd already started to peel off some excess bread.
We had a date planned at a trendy new restaurant on Thursday night but due to a tough week and a rainy night, we canceled and opted for our neighborhood red sauce joint instead. Loved this appetizer of buffalo mozzarella and beefsteak tomatoes.
Easy chicken and veggie stir fry with a few mini wontons on the side. Made it up as I went along. Nothing special. What an ugly plate. I was really cranky when I made this.
On Monday, I was craving stovetop mac and cheese and considered making it from scratch. Then I realized the Bachelor finale was starting in 10 minutes and I got a grip. I made Annie's Three Cheese Rotini and threw peas into the pasta pot for the last minute of cooking. I topped the finished product with grilled baby bellas I'd tossed in a little truffle oil. It felt like a gourmet meal with such little effort. When it comes to boxed pastas, Annie's is the lesser of two evils - but I'd actually really like to recreate this meal sans-box.
What did you eat this week?
who doesnt love food pictures? I have never had crepes but that picture makes me want to try them even more. I also agree with the cheeseburger. There are some days that it calls for one.
ReplyDeleteI think crepes are underrated. Not a lot of places offer them, but I love them and wish I ate 'em more!
Deletehow do you manage to cook so frequently? man, I wish i had the dedication to cook more frequently.
ReplyDeleteI don't! Most of this was quickly assembled or procured from a restaurant/store. :)
ReplyDeleteIf you like crepes, def check out "The Creperie" in the East Village - it's a little hole in the wall, but SO GOOD.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I'm trying to cook more at home as I spend way more on take-out then I should. I love some of the stuff you make, but I feel like it seems like it could be high in sodium (I love Van's though - such a better option) - how do you stay low on the salt?
Thanks for the crepe suggestion! Vive La Crepe on Spring Street is excellent as well.
ReplyDeleteWait, so THAT'S why I've been bloated?! I'm actually not completely kidding. You make a great point here. The truth is that I don't pay much attention to sodium content - other than when I'm comparing two different brands at the market to pick the one that's lower. I don't salt my food, ever, but I also clearly don't really keep tabs on how much is in what I'm making to begin with. I think you may have sparked a new post idea focusing on low-sodium options! Or at least lower sodium. Stay tuned! :)
those van's waffles are the BOMB. i haven't had them in my freezer for a month, and i miss them. must get my posterior to target immediately for some van's lite! SO perfect with.. 2 tbsp PB2 peanut butter (especially the chocolate kind) w/ a side of fruit!
